Combined plastic surgery · Istanbul · for international patients

Two procedures. One anaesthesia. One recovery.

Combining plastic surgery safely is a design discipline — anaesthesia ceilings, tissue budgets and recoveries that must not fight each other. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayhan Işık Erdal designs combinations for patients flying in from around the world: honestly triaged, personally performed, and planned all the way home.

The idea, honestly

Combining is arithmetic before it is ambition.

Every operation spends from two budgets: safe anaesthesia time and your body's total healing capacity. A good combination fits inside both and pairs procedures whose recoveries cooperate. A bad one is just a longer operation with a marketing name.

That's why the process here starts with triage, not a menu: send everything you're considering, and the plan comes back designed — combine these, stage that, and honestly, you don't need the third. All three are answers this practice actually gives.

  • Safety limits stated up front — the ceiling designs the operation, not the wish list.
  • Recovery rewritten per pairing — because combinations change the rules (see the BBL + tummy tuck position paradox below).
  • Staging priced alongside whenever it's the honest alternative.

The example that explains everything

A BBL alone: three weeks off your back. A tummy tuck alone: face-down is misery. Combine them and both classic positions are gone — recovery becomes a designed system of side-sleeping rotation and recliner living. If a clinic offers the combo without volunteering that plan, it hasn't done it much.

The combinations

Seven pairings, honestly mapped

Each page covers why the pair works, how it rewrites recovery, and when it isn't the answer — the part most sites skip.

Rhinoplasty + Breast Augmentation

The classic face-plus-body pairing: different anatomical zones, no competing recovery positions, one anaesthesia. The nose splints while the chest heals — neither slows the other.

This combination

Rhinoplasty + Otoplasty

Nose and ears in one facial session — a natural surgical neighbourhood sharing one recovery: same head-elevated sleep, one week of headline healing, one set of time off.

This combination

Breast Augmentation + Labiaplasty

Frequently requested together and anatomically compatible — brief added surgical time, discreet single-trip planning, and recoveries that run in parallel rather than in conflict.

This combination

Breast Lift + Tummy Tuck

The torso pairing at the heart of post-pregnancy and post-weight-loss surgery — one anaesthesia, one recovery arc, with garments and posture planned as a single system.

This combination

Tummy Tuck + Thigh Lift

Adjacent territories after major weight loss — powerful together, but a combination with real position and garment logistics that must be planned, not improvised.

This combination

Tummy Tuck + Arm Lift

Core plus arms in one session — recovery-compatible zones (you sleep on your back anyway), with lifting restrictions that overlap neatly instead of stacking.

This combination

Facial Trio: Rhinoplasty + Bichectomy + Eyelid Surgery

Three refinements, one facial recovery: nose reshaping, buccal fat removal and blepharoplasty share the same swelling arc, the same head-up fortnight, and one period off work.

This combination

BBL + Tummy Tuck

Combination surgery's famous paradox: fat grafts ban back-lying, the abdominal repair bans face-down. Combined here only with the designed side-rotation and recliner protocol — planned before theatre, not after.

This combination

Tummy Tuck + Liposuction

Lipoabdominoplasty — the skin repair and the contouring in one session: flanks and waist sculpted while the abdomen is repaired, for a result neither achieves alone.

This combination

Rhinoplasty + Chin Implant

Profile harmony's classic duo: the nose refined and the chin projected in one session, because profiles are read as a line, not as features.

This combination

Breast Augmentation + Liposuction

Volume where you want it, contour where you don't — chest and waist treated in one anaesthesia with recoveries that share a timeline without sharing territory.

This combination

Facelift + Eyelid Surgery

The face ages as one field — lifting the lower face while refreshing the eyes avoids the 'renovated downstairs, tired upstairs' mismatch, in one recovery.

This combination

Breast Reduction + Tummy Tuck

The functional torso pairing: weight off the chest, repair for the core — two quality-of-life operations sharing one recovery arc and one set of restrictions.

How it works

From wish list to follow-up at home

1

Send your full wish list

Every procedure you're considering — honestly triaged. Photos plus your goals let Dr. Erdal see the whole picture before designing what belongs together.

2

Combination design, not accumulation

What pairs safely in one anaesthesia, what should be staged, and what you don't actually need. The anaesthesia-time ceiling and your tissue budget decide — not a sales target.

3

One written all-inclusive plan

Procedures, sequence, hospital nights, garments for every treated zone, transfers and follow-up — one figure, with the staging alternative priced alongside where relevant.

4

One trip, planned realistically

Typically 7–10 days in Istanbul for combined surgery — arrival work-up, the operation, structured early recovery for every treated area, and a final review before flying.

5

One surgery, by one surgeon

Performed personally by Dr. Erdal with a consultant anaesthetist in an accredited hospital — sequenced so each procedure gets unhurried attention inside safe total time.

6

Combination-aware aftercare

Recovery advice rewritten for your specific pairing — positions, garments, activity gates — with scheduled photo reviews and a direct line home, wherever home is.

From everywhere

One trip, wherever you start

United Kingdom & Ireland

Direct flights from London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin, ~4 hours. The single-trip logic of combined surgery is why so many UK patients choose it: one set of leave, one recovery.

United States & Canada

Direct routes from New York, Chicago, Toronto and more (9–11h). For transatlantic patients, combining is often the difference between surgery happening in one planned trip — or never quite happening at all.

Germany & the Nordics

Frankfurt, Berlin, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo and Helsinki all connect directly in ~3–4 hours — close enough that even staged plans across two short trips stay practical.

Australia, the Gulf & beyond

Istanbul is one of the world's best-connected hubs. For long-haul patients especially, one combined operation with one recovery beats two separate journeys by every measure that matters.

Questions

Combined surgery, answered

Is it safe to combine plastic surgery procedures?
Yes — within limits that must be respected, and that's the entire discipline. Safe combining means keeping total anaesthesia time inside a sensible ceiling (as a working guideline, roughly six hours), respecting your body's total healing budget, matching procedures whose recoveries don't fight each other, and screening candidates properly (health, BMI, smoking). A combination that violates any of those isn't ambitious surgery; it's bad planning — and here it gets declined or staged.
How many procedures can be done in one anaesthesia?
The honest answer is measured in hours and trauma, not in procedure counts. Two well-matched procedures are routine; three compact ones (a facial trio, say) can sit comfortably inside safe time; a marathon 'everything at once' plan usually can't. The combination is designed backwards from the safety ceiling — and if your wish list doesn't fit, you'll be told what to stage rather than sold a longer operation.
Does combining change how recovery works?
Fundamentally — and this is the least-discussed truth in combination surgery. Single-procedure advice often collides when procedures share a body: a BBL alone means three weeks avoiding sitting or lying on your back, but add a tummy tuck and lying face-down is off the table too — the protocol becomes side-sleeping and recliner positioning. Every combination page on this site includes its own 'recovery, rewritten' section, because generic advice is exactly what fails combined patients.
Is recovery from combined surgery twice as hard?
Harder than one procedure, easier than two separate recoveries — that's the honest shape of it. The first week is heavier (more treated area, more swelling), but it happens once: one anaesthesia recovery, one time off work, one healing arc instead of two spread across a year. Most patients call the single heavier recovery the better bargain — knowingly.
Which combinations work best together?
Pairs from different zones with non-competing recoveries: face + chest (rhinoplasty with breast augmentation) is the classic because neither disturbs the other. Facial procedures cluster well together (nose, ears, eyelids, buccal fat). Torso pairings (lift + tummy tuck) share one recovery arc. The combinations that need real caution are those competing for position, garments or a large total wound area — and those get honest scrutiny here, not automatic approval.
How much do I save by combining?
Real savings, honestly framed: one anaesthesia, one hospital stay, one set of travel — meaningfully less than the sum of separate operations, typically saving a substantial share of the second procedure's standalone cost. What combining is not is half price, and any clinic marketing it that way is advertising its accounting, not its surgery. Your written quote shows the combined figure and, where staging is an option, the two-trip figure beside it.
